About Me
Hi there, my name is Louisa, I am a qualified NLP Practitioner, Hypnotherapist, K G Hypnobirthing teacher and mother of two.
Whilst I have been practicing hypnotherapy for several years, my passion for hypnobirthing ignited when my daughter became pregnant. Using the skills I have gained as a hypnotherapist enabled her to have the most amazing birthing experience. During the birth she remained calm, positive and in full control, bringing my wonderful hypnobirthed grandson Jude into the world. I have since had the pleasure of supporting many expectant parents at this truly magical time.
I am passionate about helping you have the best birth possible. KGH is a complete antenatal programme, this coupled with my hypnotherapist expertise, provides a positive, empowering birthing experience for mother, partner and baby.
What is Hypnobirthing?
Hypnobirthing is a form of hypnotherapy dedicated to empowering you in your pregnancy, labour and beyond.
Using visualisation and breathing techniques, together with hypnosis, any fears and anxiety are eliminated. A lack of fear is replaced with calmness, confidence and a sense of control, allowing the body and mind to work together as nature intended. The result - a most fantastic birthing experience for you, your partner and your baby.
The History of Hypnobirthing
Hypnobirthing is not a new revelation. In 1913 Dr Dick-Read (early twentieth century Obstetrician) attended a birth in a poor area of the east end of London. When he arrived, the mother was extremely calm and relaxed and he became aware of a overwhelming feeling of peace and tranquility. The woman continued her labour and just prior to the delivery Dr Dick-Read offered her chloroform. He was surprised when she declined this and watched as she continue to give birth quietly and easily, with no distress.
As he started to leave, he turned to the mother and asked why she had refused the chloroform. She replied ‘it didn’t hurt, it wasn’t supposed to do, was it Doctor?’
Her response led Dr Dick-Read to begin his journey of research, which led him to his theory ‘When fear is not present, pain is not present’
His book ‘Childbirth Without Fear’ published in 1950’s is still available.
