Hypnobirthing experiences

My name is Elena and Louisa is my amazing mum. This is Jude’s story. My partner and I had planned to have a baby within a couple of years of getting married. I was so excited when I fell pregnant almost straightaway. My elation was soon replaced with anxiety after watching far too many programmes about childbirth, each one included the mother in excruciating pain!

Mum had been practising hypnotherapy for several years, having great success with phobias and confidence issues (to name a few) and when I expressed my worries to her, her reply was ‘we’ll fix it’

I told her all my fears in great detail and she tailored a hypnotic script specifically for me. Initially I listened to the audio two or three times a week, increasing this as my due date became closer. My confidence grew massively and, coupled with the breathing exercises she taught me, I really looked forward to the birth.

On the night before Jude was born I went out for a meal with friends and felt ‘strange’. I had a great night’s sleep waking about 4.00am with a tightening in my stomach. I phoned the maternity ward approx. an hour later to let them know I thought I was in labour. They listened to my breathing and suggested it was early labour and I should have a bath to help me relaxed. By 5.30am I instinctively knew I should go to hospital, even though I felt fine. One the way there my waters broke and after a quick examination in the delivery suite, I was told I was fully dilated. Jude arrived one hour later, without the need for me to have any pain relief.

The most wonderful thing mum taught me was the importance of the ‘golden hour’. My partner and I spent the first hour with our wonderful son alone enjoying the time together after such an amazing birthing experience. The bond the three of us have is one words cannot describe.

Thanks hypnobirthing………Thanks mum xx

Having never suffered from anxiety before it was a huge shock for me when I started experiencing panic attacks and a general feeling of anxiety in my second pregnancy.

I reached out to Louisa who taught me the tools and techniques to manage through my anxieties and enjoy my pregnancy.

She tailored a hypnobirthing tape that I listened too 3 to 5 times a week, after the first week of listening to the recording I was already feeling a difference and managing my anxiety a lot better.

The postnatal journey has been so positive compared to how I felt after having my son and I very much believe it is down to the hypnobirthing and tools that Louisa taught me.

Hi Louisa, OMG where do I start... I had an amazing birthing experience. Every step of the way I just kept hearing your words and it refocused and calmed me. The breathing and the visualisations really worked and my husband just encouraged me the whole way through! I just kept telling myself how proud I’d feel, and boy did I! I wanted it to work and believed that it would and would recommend hypnobirthing to everyone! Thank you so much!

I just needed gas and air (being 7cm when we arrived at the hospital) no tearing or stitches! Even breast feeding has been amazing.

I was put into contact with Louisa for Hypnobirthing with my second pregnancy through a friend at work. My lifestyle during my second pregnancy was busy to say the least, due to working full time and having my daughter I had up until this point put off addressing any of my worries and fears with the later stages of my pregnancy, childbirth and after the birth itself.

My first pregnancy wasn’t easy but the birth was something I had planned and thought about down to every last detail. I was so excited to get to the hospital when I was in labour, I knew what pain relief I wanted and didn’t want, I wanted to stay active and have a natural birth. Everything changed and my plans completely went to pot. My labour was long and like nothing I ever could have imagined, myself & my daughter were stressed meaning I was given each and every form of pain relief to try to keep me calm. I was in and out of consciousness and ended up having to have forceps. After the birth I could barely walk, the birth was so stressful all the milk I was previously producing completely stopped. My daughter wouldn’t latch on and all the thoughts and plans I had completely disappeared leaving me feeling extremely empty and inadequate as a woman and a mother.

Fast forward 4 years, my pregnancy was going very smoothly. I was working full time and had so many other things to do that planning for the birth and after birth was something I didn’t want to face. Why would I want to make all these perfect plans for everything to go so wrong again? I couldn’t even put my finger on what I was most fearful of, all I knew is that the birth would be horrendous and I didn’t want to give it a second thought until it was happening!

When I was put into contact with Louisa, I had my first session with to go over all my fears and worries, I then opened up about a lot of things I didn’t realise actually affected me as much as they did. This included my problems before with breastfeeding, the weight that I couldn’t lose and the bond I was petrified wouldn’t be there after such a traumatic experience before. And of course, being completely out of control!

I then had my second session where it was explained I would need to relax in order to be hypnotised… I remember listening to Louisa’s voice and analysing everything she said so I could try to remember every detail to help with the rest of my pregnancy. Then, there was nothing. I woke up feeling more relaxed than I had ever felt before but I also felt worried, I couldn’t remember half of the session but I knew I was definitely still awake!

My tape was ready, I listened to it once a week to start with then towards the end of my pregnancy I listened to it every night. Each time, I’d get to the same point and completely ‘go’. At the end of the tape I’d feel very light and relaxed and eventually I sat down on my maternity leave and made a full birth plan without even thinking or worrying the details I knew I couldn’t face before.

My labour this time happened in the middle of the night, we made our way to the hospital where I was offered pain relief. I felt completely in control of my body which before I never experienced, I knew exactly when my contractions were coming and when they were going. My partner handed over my birth plan to the midwife and explained I had been doing hypnobirthing and wanted to listen to my tape… this was offered to me regularly but I was so with it, relaxed and calm I didn’t want to listen to it. Which even I couldn’t understand? I was offered the birthing pool and I began to talk myself step by step through the tape that I had religiously listened to (even the bits I also seemed to forget!). My son was born and I remembered and was in control of the whole experience. We were taken into the room next door where we stayed for a few hours before going home. He latched on and all my anxieties about breastfeeding slowly began to drop.

After the birth and the months following I had an instant bond and felt completely worry free, I managed to exclusively breastfeed for 7 months and I can honestly say that my experience was so successful as a result of my hypnobirthing experience. I would recommend this to anybody and I can only wish that I’d have known about this with my first pregnancy.

I had hypnobirthing with Louisa when pregnant with my first baby. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. There wasn’t anything specific about pregnancy or birth that I was worried but understand that everyones experience is so different and many factors are out of our control but I figured if there was anything I could do to try and stay calm and relaxed and be able to listen to my body then I would definitely give this a try.

I was induced and had quite a long labour but especially in the early stages I felt that listening to the recording and using the breathing techniques meant I was able to manage for as long as possible without much pain relief. I listened to Louisa’s recording most evenings before bed and sometimes in the nights when I was struggling with sleeping during pregnancy. It helped me to be more calm and relaxed and during labour it helped me to stay calm and breath through the pain as things were progressing.

The more difficult it became I just kept thinking I was closer to meeting baby just like Louisa said in the recording.

I think it had a big impact on making the whole birth experience a positive one and as relaxed and calm as it could be. I would recommend Louisa’s hypnobirthing to anyone to enhance and get the most out of the most challenging but the most amazing experience.

I can’t recommend hypnobirthing with Louisa enough.

This was my first baby so understandably I was nervous and anxious about what to expect at the birth but I knew I wanted a natural birth with as little intervention as possible and preferably for my baby to born in water. When I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes I was told that it may not be possible to have a water birth and I was booked in to be induced a few days after my due date. The induction process made me very nervous, so I listened to my hypnobirthing recording all the more.

Our little girl decided to make her appearance two weeks early. I laboured at home for as long as possible, listening to my hypnobirthing recording really helped me stay calm and focused. She was delivered in water with no pain relief and the whole experience was exactly how I hoped it would be, I was confident, calm and positive throughout the labour.

Thank you x
